So for them a 10+ year old system with an SSD/CPU/memory (and possibly a low-end GPU upgrade) is more then enough to keep them happy. OK that explains the problem, thank you! I have been doing IT work for 30 years, so I end up servicing alot of old machines for family/friends, most of whom aren't into computers at all and are on limited budgets too.

But knowing that some people have been having this issue reassures me that this is probably just a software problem and not a more serious hardware issue or incompatibility.ĭo you have a high Vcore ? In the bios in some readings, it goes all the way up to 1.435, which is pretty high. I apologize, I don't have more information.

There must be some chipset sensor that needs a driver update to send the correct information. CPU works fine, cores and threads are correctly identified in Task Manager. Either with a bios update, or a chipset driver update. Knowing this, my hunch is that it's a software problem, and that it'll get patched. Good thing is that in MSI afterburner in a game, I can see the usage of every core and thread. Ryzen Master shows the same thing for me as for you. Core Temps shows the same uniform temp for every core. HWinfo and HWmonitor show individual core speeds, but not temp. All the cores are detected, but their individual information, like temps, is not always readable. I've tried probably 4 or 5 different monitoring softwares. Reinstalling windows twice, on different drives.Installing every single driver and utility I could find on my mobo's support page on the Asus website.Trying the chipset driver found on the AMD website, and the one on Asus's website (they were different, AMD was more recent).Reinstalling the bios, and trying another one.I also have 3600 CL18 RAM (2x8), maybe that's the issue ? Everything up to date, drivers, chipset, bios, everything. So far I only had seen people on Asus boards with this issue, so that rules it out.

And I advise against setting your PBO limits very high for this reason alone.Īnyways, this reply is way longer than it should have been however there is so little info on 5000 series that I can't help but voice my concerns and my overall experience.

However for a chip that normally draws about 70-80 Watts during high framerate gaming to suddenly pull 100 Watts which is the upper limit I've set for it in BIOS, is very worrying. Now a less informed individual would look at the temperature data and say ''70 degrees is normal for gaming, duh''. Now I haven't seen this kind of agressive behavior on other games so I'm willing to call this a game related issue however it was definitely worrying to see my CPU pull Prime95 levels of wattage just for a loading screen.

Also some games don't play nice with 5600X and cause it to ramp up to %100 PBO limits.ĭuring BF1 loading screens I've seen the CPU suddenly go from 38 degrees to 70's, and HWiNFO reportings showed that PPT peaked at 100W and EDC peaked at 100 which are the limits I've set for it on PBO. My only worry right now with 5000 series chips it that unlike 3000 series, PBO and AutoOC seems to function for real this time and maxing everything on PBO would likely be a terrible idea because the chip actually tries to boost higher as you set higher limits and increase the power budgets. Temperatures, power draw, performance everything is a step up from my previous 3600XT.

What I'm more worried about is if this will have any other weird consequences, however so far my 5600X has performed amazingly in both benchmarks and gaming. I have already learned to live without RM personally.
